HPV self-sampling test for cervical cancer screening

This year we are offering you the opportunity to choose whether to provide a sample for HPV at the clinic or to perform a self-sampling test for HPV. Choosing between the two screening methods is voluntary. Participation in screening is FREE, even if you do not currently have health insurance.
If you order the HPV self-sampling kit in December, we kindly ask you to mail the sample as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can deliver the sample to your nearest SYNLAB sample collection site. Only samples that reach the laboratory by January 31, 2025, will be analyzed.

Cervical cancer screening

In Estonia, women aged 30–65 years are invited to participate in cervical cancer screening at five-year intervals. Cervical cancer screening is a health examination designed to study healthy women who have no complaints or symptoms to prevent cervical cancer. Participation in screening is FREE, even if you do not currently have health insurance.

To order an HPV self-sampling kit, please log in using your ID-card, Mobile-ID or Smart-ID, enter your telephone number, e-mail address and select a suitable parcel method (Omniva regular mail, Omniva parcel terminal, or Smartpost parcel terminal). After placing the order, an order confirmation will be sent to your e-mail address or mobile phone, and you will receive a sampling kit with instructions and a return envelope within 10 working days via parcel method you have selected. Posting the sample to the lab is prepaid and free of charge for you.

Your participation in screening will provide you with important information about your health and will help to prevent cervical cancer. You will be informed in person of your test result. A positive HPV test result does not mean that you have precancerous lesions or cancer, it means that you need additional examinations. All additional examinations required are also free for you.
